A bit of a controversial “look of the week” this week with the… Madame look!
I saw this girl in Paris outside a show at Fashion Week.
Her outfit was one of the sexiest I ever saw in the street. For the first time, this was not the ‘sexy chic‘ I am used to see (in Italy for example) nor the ‘trashy sexy‘ that I sometimes see in California (Paris Hilton are you still there?). This was just a plain outrageous and provocative sexy ‘madame style‘.
And what stunned me was that she managed to do this by just playing with her legs (if you observe her shirt is buttoned till the top)… ahah.. you can tell that she sticked to the fashion rule of so many classy women: “show only one thing at a time and cover up the other entirely“!
The anti-ageing kits of Dr. Obagi, a famous dermatologist from Beverly Hills, are one of the biggest buzz in the anti-ageing industry.. so I naturally got very excited when I had the opportunity to discuss with their team in Milan (which included a medical surgeon!) and get to try out their products. Here is my product review!
The other week, I attended one of my favourite beauty events of the year: a new session of Max Factor‘s Make Up School!
The event was organised in the beautiful gardens of the Sheraton Diane Majestic hotel in Milan and the lesson was given by one of my make up gurus: Rajan Tolomei. Rajan is a top Make Up Artist (in fact he is even Creative Director for Max Factor Italy) and I love to hear him speak about new make up trends, how women should feel like about themselves and learn his (expert) tricks. He is actually sharing many of his tricks and vision on Max Factor Blog. If interested, join in the Max Club here!
Here are all the pictures of the event as well as a quick guide on Max Factor’s new Spring/Summer collection and how we created a hot and sexy summer make up with them.
Ever wondered how stylist dress like for themselves? Well the answer is something (amazingly cool) like this..
This was the look of German stylist Myriam Schlicher and her friend (who she styled up as well).
Check out her amazing work on www.myriamschlicher.de
From Flamingo lamps to mini bars, here are my top 10 new favorite designs from the Salone del Mobile (Milan Furniture Fair).

Another of my favourite designer street style looks spotted during Milan Design Week, the one of Lakutatekaddze, a very cool designer from.. Georgia!
She was exhibiting her designs at the Salone Satellite, the area reserved to young upcoming designers of the Salone del Mobile. Continue reading
This year again, at the Salone del Mobile, one of my favourite stalls was the Versace Home stand.
I always love to wander around their giant stand – which usually recreates several rooms of a house – and imagine myself the hostess of a crazy maison de maitre in Italy! Continue reading
More street style from the young and trendy designers who came to the Salone del Mobile in Milan this week!
This girl was exhibiting in the “Salone Satellite”, the section of the Salone del Mobile reserved for upcoming young designers. She comes from Japan.. and I adored her style from head to toes!
Selection of street style looks (..or party style should I say!) spotted during Design Week in Milan this week!
PS: The amazing shawl of the girl above (cashmere please!) comes from her (German) friend, Antonia Zander. Check out here website here!
Yesterday, I went to visit what is announced as one of the major design events this year for the Salone del Mobile: the EDIT exhibition by Design Junction.
EDIT is an exhibition of 25 international design brands at La Pelota, a very cool exhibition spaze in the Brera district of Milan. The event is very laid back, with a big table tennis to play with in the middle of the venue and the designs proposed over there are very “hip”. My favourite? The gorgeous OverNight lamps from Odd Matter and some very strange sheep chairs!
Visa is a partner for the event and, just so you know, in case you have a Visa Premium card, there is a lounge with free cocktails just for you (you will also have priority access and a guided tour to the exhibition as well as special tickets for Salone del Mobile events).
So.. that’s it. The Salone del Mobile 2013 Edition started yesterday in Milan and il tutti quanti of the design world is here. The week is jammed packed with design exhibitions and happenings and creative exchanges are flowing in the air of every street.
Last night, to celebrate the start of this exceptional week, I went to the Van Cleef & Arpels boutique to meet a team of students of Design for applied arts from the Creative Academy, the prestigious school of the Richemont Group which forms the elite designers who will work on the jewellery, watches and fashion accessories of the companies of the group (Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier or IWC among others..).
Inspired by the universe of Van Cleef & Arpels, the students of the Creative Academy, in collaboration with the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, created an exhibition entitled “Les Fleurs Enchantées – Blooming Créativité“. A unique opportunity to meet these talented students and get to see the iconic collections of the house: Alhambra, the Perlée.. and my absolute favourite: the Between The Fingers rings (yes, Van Cleef does “between the fingers rings” too.. and they are absolutely faaabulous!). Have a look!
The exhibition runs from 10.30 till 19.00 from 9th to 14th April 2013
Van Cleef & Arpels Boutique. Via Pietro Verri 10. Milano
I met this girl at the Trussardi party in Milan the other week.. and thought her almond shaped nails (and whole style) were quite awesome. Definitely something I will try this summer! Continue reading
