One extremely funny thing I spotted while in Tokyo last month. The “calories counting stairs”. Continue reading
Have you ever been to Strasbourg around Christmas time? If not, you should. It is one of the cutest and most festive place to be at this time of the year. The whole town is sumptuously decorated. Santa Claus, Polar Bears, Elves all dance together around shop windows, Christmas markets are set up a bit everywhere, the Cathedral is illuminated at night and the wonderful perfume of mulled wine regns over the whole city… a magical experience! If you ever feel in a “resort” mood after all the fashion resort and cruise collections I showed you, then it is time for me to share with you details one of my favourite beauty lines.. coming straight from the French Caribbeans: the very chic Ligne St Barth!
This line is not one of the hippest in the market for no reason. Set up by the Brins family (a French family whose ancestors settled in Saint Barthelemy.. – or “St Barth” as we should more poshly say… – in the 17th century), the line uses delicious local Caribbeans flowers and fruits to produce natural products which all have heaven-like perfumes and textures. My favourites? The Banana Hand Cream, Avocado All-in-one Oil or Lip Balm with Sugar Cane Extract. Continue reading
Which Fashionista did not dream of becoming a Stylist one day? At the same time, while this profession of course always appealed to me (this means free clothes and bags right? ;), I always sort of wonder what does a Stylist really do… put clothes and accessories together? Pfff.. how difficult could this be? Don’t we all do it everyday, some of us in less than 5 mn?
Well, the other day, Italian Designer Paola Frani and her team had the great idea to arrange a day for us to come play the Stylist at her Showroom in Milan with all the clothes and accessories she designed for her new Spring / Summer Collection. Everything was there: 2 gorgeous models, a professional photographer, a shooting set, the whole Spring / Summer Collection.. all waiting for
us me to “make it happen”: Continue reading
Happy Monday ladies! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. But now, it is “back to work” and to start the week, I want to share with you pictures of the LookBook of an Italian designer I discovered the other week during the Press Days in Milan. Her name is Paola Frani.. and her Spring/Summer Collection 2013 is all about the New Californian Dream, exotic and punk. I fell in love with the powder colours code she used and her scuba-effect bandeau-skirt… a real ray of Californian sunshine for any wardrobe!
Paola Frani has flagship stores mainly in Japan (Kyoto, Tokyo, Kobe, Osaka, etc) and in Italy (Milan and Capri) but for all info, check out her website www.paolafrani.com
Tomorrow, I will show you the pictures of her showroom here in Milan and of the Stylist Job I had the pleasure to do over there! Continue reading
If you are like me totally in a “resort mood” after looking at all these gorgeous light pieces from the new resort collections this week, then it is time for me to present one “dream destination“: the fashionable Sereno Beach Hotel from Saint Barthelemy, in the French Caribbean! Continue reading
One of the fashion brand I like to follow is Milly, a very cool and trendy NYC brand whose fashion DNA can be sum up as “sophisticated Upper East Side meets cool Downtown“.
Set up in 2001 by Michelle Smith (an audacious kick-ass self-made woman, whose success story you can read here), the brand rapidly became a worldwide success selling at top shops such as Bergdorf Goodman, Harrods and Takashymaga and her fans include Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyonce and Kate Middleton. And since I discovered it, me. ;)
This year, during the November Press Days (more on this tomorrow), I got a great news: Milly is adding a Resort Collection to her Fashion House. And in true Milly style.. what was the inspiration for this line? Funky Nassau, a funny, funky decale song from the 60s! Ever listen to it? You’ll immediately want to start dancing.. and it is funny to see how her collection, full of bold, funny, funky, 60s accents, reflects upbeat vibe of the song! ;) Continue reading
Entitled “Models for a day“, the event selected 10 chic and kick-ass professional women from Milan to model for the night with dresses from emerging Italian designer Laura Mancini and precious jewelry from jewellery maker Rubinia. All profits were sent to the foundation Bianca Garavaglia which fights children tumours.
Sumptuous feather masks, evening gowns and precious stones where mixing with hard professional skills Continue reading
Today I want to make a little “spotlight” on a very special piece in a women wardrobe: her wedding shoes!
Whether you want them as high as the sky or short and comfy to accompany you through the day, the choice is a tough one. One of my friends had one of the most beautiful pairs I ever saw: a “jewel shoes” pair from Rene Caovilla, an historic shoemaker from Venise. Known as “sculptor” in the business, Continue reading
A few weeks ago, my friend Anja from the Dolls Factory asked me to take part in a review which Olay was conducting here in Italy. The object of the review was their Regenerist Wrinkle Relaxing Complex and they were looking for 30+ years old people to test their products for 15 days and tell them what they think about it. Beauty Alert: Rush is offering 50% off first visits in their Hair Salons or 20% off on their Beauty Salons till the 25th November!
Rush is a major Hair and Beauty Salon chain with over 60 salons in London and South England offering nothing but the finest, indulgent and most luxurious treatments! My favourite salons are their Flagship Salon, on London’s Piccadilly (a real urban sanctuary), and their salon Rush Tunbridge Wells in Kent (a picturesque royal town and popular spa retreat). Last night, we went to visit Omotesando, a very hip and trendy area in Tokyo, to try one of the “Kaitenzushi“, a conveyor belt sushi bar. One of the best moment in my life!
How does it work? Well you just sit, fill up your cup of matcha powder and hot water to prepare your green tea (the bar has boiling water tap at each seat..). And watch the dishes go by as you mentally prepare to eat all of them. Each plate is color-coded. Pink was Continue reading
I flew to Japan right after China (which is the right way to do it.. don’t ever do China after Japan!) Many things amazed me in Japan: their exceptional food traditions, their crazy perspectives on things, their fashion and style (more on this tomorrow) but, the number one thing which amazed me the most, out of everything, was the incredible beauty of the Japanese Zen Gardens. Continue reading
When winter comes, I like to change my beauty routine and switch to intense, long-lasting hydration products. This month I tried Epoch, the Body Line of Nu Skin, the new highly technical brand I was telling you about the other day here. Epoch Products use ancient traditions of indigenous cultures and botanical ingredients derived from renewable sources (and as always with Nu Skin, part of the profit are donated to charities.. for this line, it is environmental charities). If you are interested, here is a little guide of their “ethno-botical” body products to smooth your dry winter skin.. from head to toes ;) Continue reading
