Home Spring Home

spring home decorationThe weather’s been so lovely in London these last days that I felt like taking a break from beauty posts and share with you these really nice pictures from One Kings Lane.

One Kings Lane is my favourite interior design shop. Everything they sell is chic and joyful and they always give a lot of great decorations tips and ideas. For spring this month, they have a special “Spring Refresh” interior decoration serie. Have a look!

Happy Spring!

How to Get Your Boyfriend To Propose

engagement ring ice cube

I was joking with my friend today about the fact that men – I mean our boyfriends – are just so slow to propose. My boyfriend proposed after 6 years of relationship (and only because I insisted a lot!) while her boyfriend still had not despite her dropping several, many hints. So when I saw this ice cube tray on internet tonight, I immediately thought about her and our discussion. Ladies: to anyone who hopes to get engaged this year, I recommend spending Saint Valentine at home. The appetizer? A martini served with a diamond ring ice cube.

The message could not be clearer.. right?

Royal College of Art Graduate Show: My Top 3 Designers!

Maiko Takeda royal college of art summer exhibition show

Last weekend, I went with some designer friends to visit the Graduate Show of the Royal College of Art.

This show is where students of this prestigious school get to display their final collection to the public. Every program is represented from Product Design to Fashion Accessories or Textiles.

It was a unique opportunity to discover some very futuristic designers and reflect on a couple of new ideas! Check out my top 3!

The New Versace Home Collection!

versace home collection salone del mobile milan

This year again, at the Salone del Mobile, one of my favourite stalls was the Versace Home stand.

I always love to wander around their giant stand – which usually recreates several rooms of a house – and imagine myself the hostess of a crazy maison de maitre in Italy! Continue reading

Salone del Mobile: The EDIT exhibition, by DesignJunction!

designjunction visa salone del mobile milano

Yesterday, I went to visit what is announced as one of the major design events this year for the Salone del Mobile: the EDIT exhibition by Design Junction.

EDIT is an exhibition of 25 international design brands at La Pelota, a very cool exhibition spaze in the Brera district of Milan. The event is very laid back, with a big table tennis to play with in the middle of the venue and the designs proposed over there are very “hip”. My favourite? The gorgeous OverNight lamps from Odd Matter and some very strange sheep chairs!

Visa is a partner for the event and, just so you know, in case you have a Visa Premium card, there is a lounge with free cocktails just for you (you will also have priority access and a guided tour to the exhibition as well as special tickets for Salone del Mobile events).

At the Affordable Art Fair!

Affordable Art Fair Milan
The other day, I went to visit the Affordable Art Fair with my friend D., a super cool architect from France.

The Affordable Art Fair is a special fair presenting pieces of contemporary art costing maximum of 5,000 eur (hence the word “affordable”).

I borrowed D’s glasses for the occassion – to help me look like the perfect art aficionado :) We saw several things there, we did not like everything but still saw a couple of pieces which were we thought really interesting… Here are all the pictures!

Fashion Weeks: the Invitations!

Hi ladies, I am in London for the Fashion Week and everything is so busy that I did not had time to prepare a post (really don’t know how the other bloggers manage..). In the meantime, and till I have time to prepare a post to show you properly how it is like to “do” the Fashion Week (mainly exhausting!), I thought it would be nice to re-publish a post I did on the fashion weeks.. invitations!

Van Cleef & Arpels, The Art of Haute Jewellery Exhibition in Paris

van cleef

When I was in Paris last time, I got invited to come visit the Van Cleef & Arpels exhibition at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs. The exhibition was one of the most prestigious exhibitions to visit this winter in Paris (along with the Dior curated exhibition about Fashion in the Impressionist Paiting at the Musee D’Orsay). Chanel Hangers and Garment Bags: from Rue Cambon.. to my Wardrobe! ;)

Chanel hangers

One day for Christmas, I had an idea a bit crazy to ask Mother Christmas (in my family it is “Mother” Christmas more than “Father” Christmas dealing with the Christmas gifts..) for hangers. Except not normal hangers.. Chanel hangers! I had been looking for some for quite time on eBay (I love eBay for all these crazy things which you would not even know where to buy in normal circumstances) and one day, after several weeks of seeing only cheap fake Chinese copies or real ones at 1500$ (true), I found someone selling a whole set of hangers plus garment bags from a fashion show at a reasonable price.
