Last Thursday, all Milanese beauty bloggers woke up happy: La Mer, the company behind the worldwide best-seller “miraculous” anti-ageing cream, decided to convene beauty bloggers around a convivial breakfast to introduce and explain their products to us. Croissants and highly technical discussions on an iconic product? Totally my cup of tea! ;)
Joke apart, this meeting was a great opportunity for me to ask all the questions I never dared to ask. So.. what is this Creme de La Mer exactly, why is it called the “miraculous” cream of the industry and how much exactly do it cost?
La Mer has a pretty cool story. It was set up 50 years ago by an aerospace physicist, Dr Max Huber, whose skin burnt in a lab after a bad accident. As he was told by doctors that there were nothing they could do to heal the appearance of his burnt skin, he decided to look out for a solution himself. That’s how, after many researches, he discovered a special sea kelp from the ocean which had incredible regenerating capacities. The sea kelp’ regenerating power is so strong that it grows up several meters a day! It then took him 12 years to sort out the exact way to combine the nutrient-rich plant with vitamins and minerals and bioferment it to boost its powers. Yes, the guy was motivated. Th result is Creme de La Mer and its Miracle Broth.. a cream with “miraculous” regenerating powers.
The formula was so great that one of the particularities of La Mer is that for a long time, there was one cream only. Not one for dry skin, one for mixed skin, one for mature skin, etc as you see in other lines. Just one same miraculous cream which works for all skin types and for all ages.
Now, however, La Mer created 5 different textures of its miraculous cream, only to reflect people tastes, as some prefer lighter texture, some softer ones etc. It is just a question of what texture/feeling you prefer.
Above, the 3 types of cream:
The “Original Cream”, The “Soft Cream” and The “Gel Cream”.
Below, the 2 types of fluids:
The “Moisturising Lotion” and The “Oil Absorbing Lotion.
In addition, they also do a special eye cream (with a lighter texture for the fine skin of our eye contours). The eye cream comes with a metallic applicator which you need to use to massage gently your eye contour..
I tried this at the Bloggers Presentation.. and it was pure nirvana!
130eur for a 30ml pot of facial cream.
Too expensive for you budget but still want to try the Miraculous cream experience? Try their Lip Balm (based on the same Miracle Broth formula)! ;)
