Situated in the Haidian District (a short tube journey from Central Beijing), the Summer Palace was the summer residence of the Imperial Family during the hot summer months and is said to be the largest and best-preserved imperial garden in the world. The Summer Palace is in fact a whole ensemble of pavilions, halls, palaces, temples, arched bridges and pretty promenade.. all designed to achieve harmony with nature, to soothe and please the mind! The Chinese in fact call it “the Garden of Restful Peace”. One of my favourite moment in China!
Travel Tip: Do jump on one of the lovely Dragon Boat to wander from one spot of the park to the other as the place is huge to visit and the boat ride charming!
