Yesterday I attended my very first fashion showSSS ever: Roberto Cavalli and Gianfranco Ferre!!! The shows were following each other quite closely as Cavalli was a 1pm while Ferre was at 3pm, which did not leave me much time in between, especially taking into account that the shows were on completely different parts of the city and that it is literally impossible to find a free cab at the exit of the show as everyone is rushing out for the next shows at the same time.. but that apparently made me feel the ‘real Fashion Week marathon experience’!
As I can not tell you all in one post, let’s start today with the Roberto Cavalli show. More than a glamourous report, I want to explain you in this post how attending a show really works in practice with a little practical step by step guide (with more glamourous posts to follow later).
The invitations alone were already amazing.. on a big thick black cartoon.. my only concern was to avoid that the security takes it away from me when checking me in but thanks god, they did not ;)))
The show was on Arco della Pace, just next to the Parco Sempione where Cavalli has its famous nightclub. They installed a huge temporary marquise for the occassion.. The effect was very impressive!!
There were loads of people waiting outside.. A good mix of rich-chic clients, uber-styled fashion addicts and celebrities (here above is a pic of French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo).. but you know what.. also loads of normal looking people! So, nope, no need to feel too shy actually ;))
Grazia was distributing goodies bag with a free copy of their French, Italian.. and Chinese editions! You also had guys distributing the “Milano Daily Front Row“, a daily magazine existing for the time of the Fashion Week informing you about all the news and gossips of the week (like that champagne was already flowing well before noon at the Backstage of Fendi, etc).. loved it too! Also some guys were distributing a little guide with references of all the shows, parties and many showrooms addresses and email addresses of press contacts.. how useful to a blogger could that be!
Then ok.. just to explain you: there are different queues depending on whether you were from the press, with an assigned seat number or ‘just’ standing.. I was myself standing, but you know what.. so were a few other famous bloggers I spotted there so don’t think that these standing seats are bad! Also, the shows apparently always start about 30 mn late.. so, pls, do not look like a newbie and look all panicked if you arrive just 5 mn before the official time of the show.. it is actually very much on time for the fashion world! ;)
Now, this was the room and decor inside.. very very impressive!
These are a few pics I took from the show itself.. but it was actually very dark inside, so they are not great.. If you want to see the collection, I suggest you go watch the official video of the show on Cavalli website (click here) – then you’ll also get the music ;)) – and if you just want to see pictures, go on my friend’s site (click here) – she always puts up pics of all collections on her site!
So.. That’s it for a little practical guide on how it does work to attend a show. Tomorrow, I’ll tell you about extremely elegant Gianfranco Ferre show, my choice of outfit.. and then about a few after-show parties! xx
